School will be starting soon. We really don’t know how long school from home will continue. COVID-19 cases are still on the rise here. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go back to phase 1.
I have been having a pins and needles feeling going down my right arm. I had an MRI done and I am getting evaluated for surgery this coming Tuesday. I am leading to saying no if the doctor wants to operate on me. I don’t think he will but if he does, I will have a lot of questions about it.
So, our daughter will be starting first grade virtually at least until Labor Day. Kids need to be in school in person at least part time, in my opinion. But fear form the spread of the virus has caused this decision. Which I do understand but I don’t have to be happy about it, do I?
Well now as of today the entire state must wear masks when in public. Cases of the virus continue to rise in Louisiana and I now fear a new lockdown order is around the corner. Also, as of today bars are closed.
Since the mask order in my parish I have still seen a fair amount of people with no mask on. I really don’t know how they enforce this requirement.
In our area now we must wear a mask in all public places. That went into effect July 1. I have mixed feelings about a mandate to wear a mask. If I choose to wear a mask that’s one thing but to be told by a government to wear a mask…I just don’t know. Where does my freedom end? I do, in fact, choose to wear a mask in public but being told to do so makes me not want to wear a mask.
Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Louisiana. Which is the reason our parish made it a crime to not wear a mask in public.
Well Louisiana will be stuck in phase 2 of reopening for another month because cases of COVID-19 are rising. The announcement was made a few days ago. I am just hoping another stay at home order will not happen.
We have a house guest this week. A nine-week-old puppy! He is a hand full and our dog is not too fond of him. But they leave each other alone for the most part.
The tropical storm that came last week wasn’t too bad. We had some rain and wind, but it could have been worse. The rain on Wednesday was worse. The chicken coop got flooded and my wife had to bring the chickens into the house. I’ll post some pictures at the end of this post.
Some states are seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases. Well I say some, but I know of two that are having a spike in cases. I’m just hoping a second wave of cases does not happen.
The NHL, if all goes well, will be restarting at the end of July. I am looking forward to all sports starting back up. I just am hoping that they will be able to restart the season and complete it.
So now Louisiana is in phase 2 as of yesterday. So naturally we went out to eat to celebrate! We went to Applebee’s yesterday with a couple of friends and dined in. Of course, the tables where you could sit were spaced out. And the tables that they did not use were decorated a bit. All the servers still had to were masks, but we were not required to wear them.
My daughter’s swimming class has started up again. In fact, my wife and daughter are there now. I hope she has fun. It’s been many weeks since she had a swim lesson.
To add to the fun there is a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico heading towards us. It could be here as soon as tomorrow. I don’t think it will be too bad, but I’ve been wrong in the past.
Friday was the last day of school and our daughter’s school had a car parade for international day. Our daughter’s class country was Italy. We drove around the school and waved goodbye to her teachers from this school year. My wife took off from work so she could go to the event and we all had a wonderful time.
After that we went to a Japanese restaurant and we got to eat inside and got waited on. Few places are doing the full-service thing. It’s still mostly still takeout. But we did enjoy being waited on.
Well that’s all for now. Below you can see how my wife decorated our car for the parade.
The wife and I went to Mississippi today and we were able to eat in a restaurant. We went to Chicken Salad Chick and it was nice to be able to eat inside a restaurant. We can do that in Louisiana too, but it’s still limited.
I’ve been going out more too. I’ve been to Sam’s, Walmart, and Target in the past few days. I tried to go to Best Buy in Mississippi, but it was by appointment only. I just wanted to look around.
Well Louisiana is now in phase one in the reopening. I look forward to eating inside of a restaurant. Last weekend we went out to eat on Saturday with my mom to celebrate Mother’s Day. We went to a good seafood place and we ate outside because we were not allowed inside. Starting yesterday you can eat inside a restaurant, but they can only have 25% compacity.
Just two weeks in the schoolyear left. It is still a struggle to get our daughter to do her schoolwork. I really hope schools will be able to open in August. She learns so much more in school than at home. I know she will be happy to see her friends again in school.
