Adoption Day

On June 20, 2014 we got a call for a child in need of care. She was only four days old. At the time we weren’t even on the list of available foster parents but everyone had passed on her. They called us because they knew this is what we wanted, a baby. And so we took her into our home and into our hearts. Never knowing how long she would be with us we treasured every minute.

There were good times and bad times. Times of joy and times of panic. But in the end joy overcame panic and more times were good rather than bad. We began to see the light at the end of this very long tunnel. We began to understand that this is God’s plan for us. And now at last this joyous day is here.

So it is with great joy that Jamie and I announce the adoption of our daughter: Natalie Ann Bienvenu.

Fostering

For about a year now, my wife and I have been foster parents. In that time we have fostered one baby that was reunited with her parents (Dora) and are currently fostering a baby girl (Peanut). At times it has been hard but for the most part we have enjoyed every second with our foster babies. We have had Peanut since she was four days old she is now almost a year old. It has been so cool to watch Peanut grow up before our eyes. I hope and pray that Peanut will be with us forever. But in the meantime I will enjoy every moment I have with her. Being a father is cool. This blog will now be about my life as a foster parent (at least that is the plan now). So check back soon!!!

Quick Update

I finish up physical therapy for my back today. I have improved a lot over my treatment…I can now just touch the top of my feet. I haven’t done that in a long long time. I’ve lost a total of 24.8 pounds. Last week I maintained my weight and I hope this week I get back to my losing ways.

Even when losing weight gets hard…

Vacation or Not?

Someone today told me that this trip is not a vacation. I will admit that it was not a vacation when we were at the wake or grave site. But life goes on. As it did last night when we went to an NHL game. I did not come to Pittsburgh just to watch people mourn the dead for eight days. That was the main part of why we came but why is it so wrong to go have fun at the same time. When we were evacuated for the hurricane we did not just sit at home and worry about what was going on and weather or not we had a home. We went out and saw the sites and well…had fun in the wake of disaster.

First NHL Regular Season Game!

I am still here in Pittsburg and I just got back from a NHL game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Pittsburgh Penguins. For those of you who do not know I love hockey and my favorite team is Tampa Bay! We had great seats! I had so much fun with my father-in-law and brother-in-law. And to top it off Tampa Bay won 5-4 in a shoot out!

I will have pictures up later tonight!

Pain Set Back

For a few days most but not all of my pain was gone but in the past two days the pain has come back a little. My physical therapists told me that this is not uncommon to have a spike in pain after a few days. It could take as long as 10 to 14 days for the shots full effect to be felt. I am not worried at this point but I am concerned.

Inside Repairs Still Not Finished

As unbelievable as it is the inside of the house is still not finished. The deal was for them to fix the ceiling, put down carpet, hang a fan, and hang two storm doors. Now let’s see what they really did: I can say the did a good job on the ceiling but that’s where it stops. They hung the fan but there is a space between the fan and ceiling and they also forgot to hook up the light fixture on the fan. They did put up one of the storm doors but the door has no handle does not close right. And as for the carpet… we got someone who knows what their doing to put that in. I guess I’ve waited this long…
