Zoey 8/20/2010-8/28/2020

Yesterday we had to put our dog, Zoey, to sleep. She had heart failure and may have also had cancer. She gave my wife, daughter, and myself 10 years of love. We will miss her very much.

When we brought our daughter home from the hospital, Zoey was at the door to greet us. And when Zoey got next to our daughter, Zoey gave her a kiss. From then on, they were best friends.

I am going to miss her scratching at the fridge for some soft food. And no dog could flip a bowl over like Zoey did. That was her way of telling us she wanted her hard food.

Rest in peace Zoey.

Two Hurricanes!

So not one but two tropical systems are heading our way. The first one to arrive is Marco and will make landfall later tonight but the storm is weakening. It will be a depression when it hits. Laura on the other hand is expected to make her way into the gulf and strengthen into a hurricane. And right now, the forecast has it making landfall around Lake Charles late Wednesday early Thursday.

Because of the storms school has been canceled through Wednesday. It’s gotten a lot better but there are still times when it is incredibly stressful. I can only hope they will be able to go to school soon. But the reality is that the virus is still scaring a lot of people, sometimes including me.

School and Surgery

School at home has started again. the first day was Thursday and it was rough. Friday went a bit better. I really wish the kids were able to go into their classes but it’s just not worth the risk at this point. However, I hope they will soon be able to return to in person learning.

On another note, I need surgery on my neck. I have three discs that need to come out because they are pushing on my spinal cord. Right now, the only symptom I have is a numb feeling when I turn my head. I had my nerves burned about a year ago, so that is saving me from being in pain.

COVID and an MRI

School will be starting soon. We really don’t know how long school from home will continue. COVID-19 cases are still on the rise here. I wouldn’t be surprised if we go back to phase 1.

I have been having a pins and needles feeling going down my right arm. I had an MRI done and I am getting evaluated for surgery this coming Tuesday. I am leading to saying no if the doctor wants to operate on me. I don’t think he will but if he does, I will have a lot of questions about it.

Well that’s it for now.
