One Week Of Lockdown

Well that’s one week down and God only knows how long to go. We used Uber Eats this week for the first time. We used it a few times. We’ve been getting food from small restaurants because they are hurting. And to help out Uber Eats has no delivery fee for them. So it’s win-win.

My daughter is still not really wanting to do schoolwork. We are able to get her to do it but it’s with a lot of pauses. And now my wife signed her up for kids messenger on Facebook and all she wants to do is “FaceTime” her friends. And I fixed up my old laptop for her and she thinks it’s the greatest thing. So when she is not on “FaceTime” with her friends she is watching Disney Plus on the laptop. But she does do her schoolwork on the laptop, so that’s a plus.

Well that’s all for now!

God is good!

Louisiana On Lockdown

Today the governor of Louisiana issued a stay at home order to stop the spread of COVID-19. This means that only essential personnel are permitted to go to work. All others are to work from home or stay home and do not go to work. Food workers are considered essential in this case. So If I have a Big Mac attack I can have one delivered to me!

My daughter is transitioning to online work for school. We have had some setbacks in getting everything working but as of today I think we are good. I fixed my old laptop for her and she loves it. She is telling everyone that she has her own computer. I let her install Netflix on it so now all she wants to do is watch it.

My wife is in her first full week of working from home. The girls go on short walks when my wife is on break. But our daughter was disturbing her today. For the most part our daughter has been good but today she seemed to want her Mommy a lot.

Well that is all for now. I’m including a pic of my wife and daughter working on their computers from today.

Even in lock down…God is good!

COVID-19 Changes Life

We went out to eat on Monday because starting Tuesday restaurants in Louisiana were take out and deliver only. The restaurant was almost empty. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

My wife is now working from home for the foreseeable future. My daughter loves having her home. Her Mommy is just a very short walk away. I’ll say this it is saving us a lot in gas.

Everyday the number of COVID-19 cases goes up both in Louisiana and the country. People are staying at home. The only time I went out of the house this week was to go out to eat and go to Walmart for groceries.

I hope and pray this gets better sooner rather than later.

God make this virus go away and keep your children safe. Amen!

The Virus Strikes Again

Well on Friday the governor of Louisiana banned gatherings of more than 250 people and closed all public schools for a month. This affects our daughter. So she will be home with me for the next month. They said next week they may have plans to do classwork on the internet. And the people at my wife’s work thinks they may close the office in favor of working from home.

Stores are starting to reduce their hours in response to this virus. This feels like Katrina all over again. Even movie theaters are changing the way they sell tickets. At AMC now a movie will be sold out once it reaches 50% capacity.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 in Louisiana went up to 77. Most of those cases are in the New Orleans metro area. The Archbishop of New Orleans has told Catholics that it is not a sin to miss mass for the next 30 days.

One thing has me puzzled. Why is toilet paper sold out everywhere? This COVID-19 is a respiratory virus. I just don’t understand that. And don’t get me started on the panic we are seeing.

NHL Season Postponed

The past 24 hours have been eventful to say the least (in the sports world). First a NBA game was postponed then shortly after the NBA season was postponed to begin with today’s games. Then the Pelicans game was postponed because one of the refs worked a Utah Jazz game. And that is the team that has a player infected with COVID-19.

The NBA shares arenas with the NHL. And in some cases they share locker rooms. So today the NHL postponed the rest of the season. They still hope to award the Stanley Cup this season. I hope life turns back to normal ASAP. I hope this virus just dies out and goes away.

To be honest I don’t know what to make of all the events being canceled. I understand why all theses events are being canceled. But these decisions affect more than just the people involved in the event being canceled. For example, canceled sporting events cause people who work for the arena to lose out on an opportunity to make money. It’s possible that they only have one job and now it’s gone and they don’t know when they will get back to work.

Even in times like this, God is good!

Update: The NCAA has canceled all spring championship tournaments. This includes the men’s and women’s Final Four and Frozen Four. Major League Baseball has also canceled the rest of spring training and postponed opening day.
